I guess I'll just assume I have the 1991 version, and that the 1994 copyright refers to the presentation rather than the content.

You might upgrade to GPS but I'd keep the map. Who knows how accurate or in what state the satellite array will be during your emergency.

I don't plan on ditching the map but rather enhancing my navigation ability with the GPS. This bag is also my camping/hiking bag so 99% of the time it's used in non-emergency capacities.

Which pack? The pocket size? medium? large?
The large pack can get up to 60 pounds and I have only taken it on 3 day Appalachian trail style trips.
