I am on the fence about whether or not to see Man of Steel.
On one hand, Superman is a close second for my least favorite super hero (after Spiderman, if anyone is interested).
On the other hand, it's fairly common knowledge that Warner Brothers is keeping a close watch on how well this movie does to gauge whether or not a Justice League movie would be viable which might mean a Flash movie or (dare I hope?) even a Wonder Woman movie. For the record, I've got my fingers firmly crossed for a JLA cartoon-version of the Flash for his movie, and hopefully not one based on him from his stand alone comics.

I read Marvel when I was a kid, and always looked down on DC, so I don't really care about a JLA movie. But I also grew up with Christopher Reeve's Superman movies and Lynda Gray's Wonder Women on TV, so I have a soft spot for those two.
Superman is pretty boring as a concept, but I like Zach Snyder (300, Watchmen) and Goyer/Nolan (Batman/Dark Knight), so I'm looking forward to see what they did. Hopefully better than Bryan Singer's Superman Returns.
Joss Whedon was going to write and direct a Wonder Woman movie a few years back, but the studio didn't like his script. I'm guessing they are kicking themselves now after The Avengers grossed one and half billion...

I like Superman conceptually because there's quite a bit of "Stranger in a Strange Land" feel to it. He's enormously powerful but he also just doesn't fit in with the regular humans, so there's usually some "reflection on humanity" element to his stories that you can't get with most of the other superheroes.
But I wish they'd quit rebooting him in the theaters. I'm really tired of Superman's backstory. I think we all know it. Get on with the damn show.

I really hate super hero movies when they weaken the characters during the movie and then have them fight... it really annoys me. In the first Ironman, he was weakened by not having his improved arc reactor, this movie he's lost some of his healing evidently... why can't they just have them bad ass and then make who they are fighting more bad ass...

[spoiler]Of the movies on the list, I've seen Ironman 3, Oz & Man of Steel. Man of Steel I thought was pretty good and probably the best Superman movie. Wasn't fantastic, but still pretty good. Ironman 3 I pretty much hated. I hated the enemies and I hated how they bastardized Ironman making him basically explode into pieces anytime he got touched. Oz was pretty bad IMO. The CG was terrible... this movie looked like it was filmed in the 80's(not sure if that was intentional). It just wasn't a good movie.[/spoiler]

I recommend Pacific Rim. Really, really good. Giant robots vs giant monsters. I had a few fairly minor quibbles ("You had that?? Why didn't you use it 30 minutes ago!" / "I'm pretty sure that's not how nuclear reactors work.") but the plot was reasonable enough, the effects were awesome and the fight scenes were surprisingly good. Actually enjoyed the story too.
I pretty much hated all the Transformers fight scenes -- it was just metal on metal in a big mess and you couldn't tell wtf was going on. Pacific Rim's fight scenes are a little slower paced and it's generally clearer what's happening between robot and monster. Overall I'd say it's worth seeing in a theater.
Also saw World War Z. Meh. Save it for DVD in my opinion. It's not bad but there's really nothing special about it. Zombie movie with some zombie movie plot going on and, I dunno, it just didn't do much for me on any level: acting, story, effects. Some neat scenes but not nearly enough. There were a few times where everyone laughed and I'm not entirely sure that was intended by the movie at that time. The zombies were more silly than scary for some of the movie so not only does the movie have nothing to do with the book but they really missed the sense of "oh shit we're all fucked" that the book delivered.
The new Star Trek movie was okay. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more if I'd known, going into it, that it was a remake of Wrath of Khan. Really, though, I just wish they'd come up with something new. I have no idea what possessed them to revisit Wrath of Khan. Like the setting of Star Trek is so limited that we have to recycle specific ideas now?

I had a lot of fun with Pacific Rim - I think it is probably my favorite movie of the year so far but then I'm a sucker for giant monsters and giant robots. I also don't remember what all movies I've seen this year so...

I didn't realize they were making an Ender's Game movie. That was one book I always wanted to see made into a movie but at the same time one that I don't think they ultimately would be able to even come close to doing justice to.

It would be hard to see anyone else as Wolverine(albeit, not as hard as it would be to see anyone else other than Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman).

Yeah, I can understand why some actors don't want to be "typecast" in a particular role but I do think it's a huge win for audiences to see the same guy playing a role for more than 1-3 shows.
I also wonder how many actors through history have turned down a recurring role in a top notch series and ended up having shit careers after that anyway, just because that turned out to be their peak opportunity. It's almost like winning the lottery, saying, "You know what? $10 million just doesn't cut it. Put it all into the next round! 5 million Powerball tickets, please!"

I'm glad he's sticking with the role - I think he's made it his own, and even though I didn't like X3 or the first Wolverine flick, X2 is one of the best superhero movies ever made. Really looking forward to Days of Future Past next year, which is a truly classic storyline (although apparently now focused on Wolverine rather than Kitty Pryde).
On the other hand, I have a lot of respect for people like Christian Bale (Batman) and Matt Damon (Bourne) for saying they are done with the role while still at the peak. It's easy to cling on to the gravy train while the quality plummets (e..g Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean) . Hope that doesn't happen with Jackman or Downy Jr.
