The preview for 47 Ronin looks cool. I have one big reservation about it though and its name is Keanu Reeves.

Yep looks pretty cool... and at least it wasn't Nicolas Cage

Well he does have an Oscar, plus $4.7 billion in lifetime box office grosses...

He does pick some pretty crappy movies sometimes, and way overacts in most of them.

Still makes some good movies - he was great in Kick-Ass a couple of years back, and pretty good in The Croods last year as well.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Zouji - 07-27-2013

Nicolas Cage is the All-Star/All time favorite of bad movie night here.

He doesn't 'make' good movies, he is 'in' good movies that could be GREAT if someone else instead of him was in it. The only movie that he was good in was Leaving Las Vegas - even a blind squirrel...

he was good in Raising Arizona too.

exact. same. character.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Grieve - 07-27-2013

He was also good in Adaptation and Wild At Heart. But yeah, I wouldn't say he has a huge range.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Jakensama - 07-29-2013

Lets not forget his Shakespearean performance in Ghost Rider.

If you've ever read the X-Men "Days of Future Past" storyline, the viral marketing website for the movie is pretty cool. You see the movie's version of Sentinels, and Peter Dinklage (of Game of Thrones fame) as Bolivar Trask.

Ugh, not sure about this.

Link

Ben Afleck the new Batman... Not real big on the same actor playing multiple super hero parts either Sad

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Jakensama - 08-23-2013

Well, superman is the worst comic character ever and Affleck sucks, so that saved me $12.

Not sure? I am CERTAIN this will suck worse than Daredevil. Afleck is worse than Cage for crap's sake.

EDIT: No he's actually not worse, but his brand of crap is special in its own rite.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Grieve - 08-23-2013

I feel bad for the guy, seeing the entire internet piling on him about this.

He wouldn't be my first choice (I'd go for Karl Urban, after seeing Dredd), but I think he'll do a good job. Don't base his acting on his shitty movie phase (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Gigli, etc). In recent years he's been on a great run both as an actor and director, with The Town, Argo, and Hollywoodland (where ironically he played the guy who played Superman on TV).

He wasn't even that bad in Daredevil - it was the script and the direction that mostly sucked.

Plus it's not unknown for someone to play multiple heroes - Chris Evans was Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four (which sucked, but he was good), and then Captain America after that (might make a future FF/Avengers crossover tough - at least Affleck is going from Marvel to DC...)

The internet piled on Heath Ledger when he was picked.

And your taste in acting might actually match up with your taste in mobile operating systems. Smile

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - strife - 08-23-2013

My biggest problem with Ben Afleck, is that when you see him, you see Ben Afleck... you aren't going to see Bruce Wayne. Heath Ledger was great as joker, but he was also wearing face paint for 100% of the movie. I would have preferred they pick some lesser known actor(Like they did for Superman in Henry Cavill) and not Ben Afleck. I don't have an issue with him as an actor and agree that he wasn't that bad in Daredevil, just that movie sucked no matter who was daredevil.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Grieve - 08-23-2013

Not really any different from any of the other Batman movies - they hardly had unknowns in the lead. I managed to enjoy Tim Burton's first two bat flicks without constantly expecting Michael Keaton to yell Beetlejuice! at Alfred, or for a naked blood-covered Christian Bale to chase Katie Holmes down the stairwell with a chainsaw...

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - strife - 08-23-2013

I was too young to remember Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale was made by Batman IMO, didn't even know who he was before.

Although, I guess I do see Mace Windu when I see the Star Wars movies, so maybe it won't be a big deal.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Diggles - 08-24-2013

Would have loved to see Karl Urban get batman role...blah. fuck ben

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - strife - 08-24-2013

Looks like Bryan Cranston will be playing Lex.

Quote:The Breaking Bad star is said to have signed up to play Superman’s long-time nemesis for a minimum of six films which could extend to ten.

An official announcement of Cranston’s casting will apparently be scheduled for after Breaking Bad finishes in order for the news to ride the wave of the finale, say Cosmic Book News.

A source told the website: ‘Cranston truly is a dream casting for Luthor’.

Well 32 actually, but Batman came out in what 89? I was 9 and I probably had no idea who he was at 9. Maybe if I go back and rewatch them now it may be different.

Re: Geektastic movies for 2013 - Jakensama - 08-24-2013

Anyway, nothings as bad as George Clooney.
