I've been on Gunbroker but never actually bought anything through their system. If I find something I like, I will generally contact the seller directly and then arrange the transaction directly. Alot of the sellers on Gunbroker are gun stores in other states. I wouldn't buy something from an individual on Gunbroker, heard too many horror stories.
Only purchased one thing from a vendor I found on Gunbroker (was a gun store in Wisconsin) and it turned out just fine.
As far as transferring, it was pretty simple. I sent them the funds, they mailed the gun to a local gun store. I went to the gun store, paid them $10 for a transfer fee (convenience fee really) and left with the gun. Different stores will charge different amounts. Find a cheap trustworthy place near you.
No idea of what the differing laws in NJ will be, but I bet they suck.
