James Spader to Play Ultron in Avengers Sequel

The 53-year-old actor has been cast as the titular robotic villain in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the sequel to the 2012 superhero team blockbuster, Marvel Studios announced Thursday.

As comic book readers know, Ultron is an indestructible, artificially intelligent robot that decides to take down the human race starting with the Avengers. In the pages of comics, he was created by Dr. Hank Pym, the Avenger known as Ant-Man. That character, however, won't be introduced until director Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" movie, which opens six months after "The Avengers," so the villain's origin will likely be altered for the big screen.

Pretty annoying that they are doing the Ant-Man movie AFTER the Ultron Avengers movie...
