I don't think Varys is a grass is greener guy. If he was, then he would have done more to save Ned and get rid of Cersei. I just think he has no loyalties to people...
Good point about Varys. I suppose he could have helped Ned more but then again what exactly could he do except free him? Ned wasn't going to leave without his daughter.
Jon as king will come to the same end that he did with the Nights Watch. He is terrible at reading a room. The things Dany lays out to him whether she said it out of selfish reasons or not were not wrong. Jon will be used against Dany regardless of what Jon does. If Jon was not interested in the claim any simpleton should know you never tell anyone. He needed a lesson from Ned in that regard. Varys is already plotting for Jon. People are preparing things now with the knowledge about Jon that they may not have done otherwise.
Jon is really lacking in the wisdom department. Honorable but not wise at all.
