21 Americans taken hostage by Somali Pirates

Actually they did, thus the reason for them being grouped with the US when it comes to retaliation threats. A French yacht was captured. French forces took the boat back, killing 3 pirates and 1 hostage in the fire fight (not clear who's gunfire killed the hostage). A couple of pirates were also taken prisoner. This went down Friday I believe.
