Yes, in response to Pickard's claim that humans are prepared for anything. He taught them that they are not prepared for anything and it did not cost any lives. Which in turn helped them be better prepared in future encounters. It was stated I think by Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) that mankind would have encountered the Borg eventually anyway.
