thats why a good tutorial, mentor, and other systems would be important
there could always be noobie quests that you can only do once
fetch me 5lb of deer meat, iron ore, wood, scalps etc
Oblivion and other open eneded games prove that people do want these. Just have to give them encouragement and help when they are starting.
