Actually Jazz is pretty international now. Sure, we invented it, but it developed a life of its own outside of the US. Kwela comes to mind from South Africa, which is a Jazz offshoot (and before you say offshoots don't count, most Jazz in the US is an offshoot from the original. It comes in many forms). It's certainly no longer all American anymore.
