I've heard good things about gunbroker.com , but you have to get it shipped to a license dealer to get it transferred and I'm not sure how big of a hassle that is. But if you're set on it, go to your local gun store and ask them, they may be able to get it for you.

I've been on Gunbroker but never actually bought anything through their system. If I find something I like, I will generally contact the seller directly and then arrange the transaction directly. Alot of the sellers on Gunbroker are gun stores in other states. I wouldn't buy something from an individual on Gunbroker, heard too many horror stories.

Only purchased one thing from a vendor I found on Gunbroker (was a gun store in Wisconsin) and it turned out just fine.

As far as transferring, it was pretty simple. I sent them the funds, they mailed the gun to a local gun store. I went to the gun store, paid them $10 for a transfer fee (convenience fee really) and left with the gun. Different stores will charge different amounts. Find a cheap trustworthy place near you.

No idea of what the differing laws in NJ will be, but I bet they suck.

Oh, they do.

I'm basically looking around now, but won't be pulling the trigger on a purchase (.. get it?) until i move out of state, which should be in another month or two if all goes well.

ya .22 is pretty worthless for pistols. Its ok for teaching about rifles & scopes stuff.

I disagree about the .22 and so does this avid gun collector:

What is the smallest caliber gun you trust to protect yourself?

The best answer:

My favorite defense gun has always been a Beretta Jetfire in .22
short. I never go hiking without it in my pocket.

Of course the first rule when hiking in the wilderness is to use the
Buddy System". NEVER hike alone, because if something happens there
is someone to go get help.

I remember one time while hiking with my wife, when out of nowhere
came this huge brown bear charging and was she mad. We must have
been near her cubs.

Anyway, if I had not had my little Jetfire I would not be here today.
Just one shot to my wife's knee cap was all it took . . . . . the
bear got her easily and I was able to escape by just walking at a
brisk pace.

That's one of the best pistols in my collection...
