Tesla up 7% ah after predicting 50% annual growth for "years to come".
Still can't believe my stupidity in not sticking with this.
I'm getting back to the feeling that stock trading is a fools game, and good old fashioned buy and hold is the way to go. It's too easy to get shaken out of a good stock by FUD.
Google, Apple, Amazon, Tesla, Facebook, Splunk, Netflix, Alibaba...I'm pretty certain that most or all of these will be higher (some much higher) in 5 years. Might be time to just stop watching the market news and ignore the short term swings.

I still have my Tesla stock. Which has done super awesome. Still planning to sell it at the 1 year mark. Tempted to hold it longer though because I feel like where Tesla is going with cheaper models is going to give them good growth.
But I still say long term the whole "electric car" concept is way up in the air and I think it's anyone's guess what Tesla is going to look like this time 2 years from now. You know in the electric car market, Tesla is going to either end up being VHS or Betamax.

The real question on tesla long term will be batterie technology. They have the rest figured out. What will storage technology look like 10 years from now.

I think Tesla is a great "let it ride" stock. There is every possibility in my mind that Tesla could be THE energy storage company of the world. Big picture, much, much more than a car company but one that completely changes how and where we use energy. In combo with Solar City, making it cheap and easy to get off the grid, which is huge in other parts of the world.

Have they talked much about that? It would be a great case for longer term investment if they are planning to do more than just make and sell cars. Part of why I've always liked Amazon is their ability to diversify into sensible markets that they already had a stake in (storing lots of stuff online + big company website = hey let's sell "Amazon Cloud" services!)
Tesla working an energy storage angle seems like a good idea, if they're actually working on that.

There has been a lot of talk about plug in cars being a grid storage system. this has beeennui very long term thinking but feasible.
Imagine if every car sitting in parking lot during the day, served as agrid storagforage during peak solar time, or at night when energy generation can out pace usage. Problem with electricity is its only realltime.
Electric cars could be the answer.

I'm not sure I see how electric cars can help out there. Yes they have battery packs that store energy but if you tap into that when I'm not using the car such that when I suddenly need my car the battery is not charged then I am going to be royally pissed off.

I imagine the concept isn't that it would ever drain a car's battery completely or in a way that it significantly destroys functional use in an emergency - otherwise it wouldn't have been discussed. I imagine the concept is that a large bank of them would not require a significant strain on an individual unit. It would be decades away anyway since you would need a lot of these cars and there are still lots of people who will never adopt them.
Buddy in Houston got a Tesla, pretty slick. If I had to drive I'd consider it.

If they can hit the 35k price tag, I'm all in on the Model III. It lines right up with when my lease deal is up if they stay on schedule.

We have charging stations at Walgreens. I have never seen anyone use them and it's nice that they take up premium parking spots...

My buddy moved from the Rice Lofts downtown to Sugarland because he is dumb and lets his wife pressure him into creating offspring, and he tells me there are quite a few around there that get used. My dad's garage at his office building has spots always used too, so it's catching on a bit. Harder in Texas since the used car salesmen lobby has kept Tesla from easily selling their products to the locals.
