Grieve, I hope you got my sell and buy order last week. I don't see it updated. I've made a killing on 'C'.

I think I'll diversify this time:

TRADE: buy WFC 100%

OMG, I'm selling against the resistance! I'm selling into strength, but toward weakness! I'm in the 52 day moving average bands within 2 sigma of a lower level resistance! Sell the news, buy the apples!

Question here on AIG.

Where do you guys think this is going? This is one of the few financial stocks that has not rebounded with the others. Its also one of the companies that has massive government investment / ownership.

I just wonder how much of a long term risk this is at $2.

I was against the bailout from the beginning and still am. Even though the US tax payer has bilions invested in them I hope they collapse. Maybe if they collapse hard enough and we lose our asses it'll make the jackasses in Washington think twice about bailing out private institutions with tax payer money again.

I wouldn't touch that stock.

From an investing perspective I dont really care about the political aspects here. My only question, is if AIG might hit $3 or $4 a share.

Sorry, I can't morally delineate the two. But I wouldn't hold my breath on them hitting $3 or $4 anytime soon. I actually think this summer is going to see a widened recession. But that is just a gut feeling, I don't follow the numbers as closely as others.

I think AIG might be a decent risk/reward bet, but remember it's already up about 500% from the low. If the economy really rebounds I can see it taking off, but I'd rather go with a better company like BAC or WFC or JPM. Hell, even C. Or just go with FAS if you don't want to stick with one company.

Well if that happens I want to see every tax payer dime plus interest back in our pockets.

Agree Thudz, Note that bail outs are loans, or stock ownership. Also this is not a political discussion / question. But investment.

Hmm...I've been a big fan of using these leveraged ETFs like QLD and FAS, since I figure...if you expect something to go up, why not buy something that will go up 2 or 3 times as much?

But I've been looking at the charts, and something isn't quite right.

If you look at today, or the last five days, it looks pretty good - the XLF is up about 19%, the UYG is up about 31%, and FAS is up about 49%. Not quite 2X and 3X, but good enough.

FAS vs UYG vs XLF 5 day

But if you look at the Year to Date...the XLF is pretty much flat for the year, the UYG is down 30%, and FAS is down an insane 60%! Something is just not right with that...

FAS vs UYG vs XLF YTD

Same for QLD...long term it's fine, but today it's traded below the level of the Nasdaq, despite supposedly being 2X it.

Gonna have to rethink these things...

I have 3 ETF's in my portfolio for the same reasons Grieve. One for Finacials, bought a couple years ago, OUCH.

One in Clean Green technologies that hasnt done to bad but for the year is is below the NASDQ

One for Latan America holdings, which ends up being a heavy oil stock that has also performed well below NASDQ and energy index funds.

I kinda walked away from buying individual stocks for a while, but Im back into it now.
