I've been looking into getting some new boots and figured it's a perfect subject for the survival forum.

My current boots are a desert military combat boot that have been real nice. The issues I have with them is they have a soft, running type sole which has worn out and cracked at the instep, and since they are made for the desert, they leak water like a sieve.

So, for general, all purpose outdoor work/hunting/mucking about I am thinking the features I would like are waterproof, steel toe, 10inch high, leather, lace up, and hard lug soles. It seems like logging boots have those features, but they usually have a very high heel, which looks like garbage to me personally. The challenge is to find a nice boot company and then figure out how to get their logging boot without the heel. There are also a few combat style boots that work as well.

I found this company that looks top notch for quality and enables loads of customization (yes, you can get a lower heel. God damn that high heeled shit is ugly...), but you really end up paying for it. Super expensive, but they'd last a lifetime:

There are many other options that are less pricey, but I am not afraid of going $200+ if they will last a long time.

This is the only boot I've ever worn. When my old pair dies, I get a new pair of the exact same kind. You might want a stronger steel toe from the looks of your picks (although this boot was strong enough to hold up to a few seconds of chain saw).

Im still wearing my Flightline (Navy) issue boots. Since i have about four pair ill have boots for years muhahahahhaha! Outside of the D tan i prefer the Belleville pair, ive had them in black (flightline work boots) and in tan. The insoles that came with them blew but you can replace and they take a beating.
